Short Guide to Imaging Methods

CT - Computerized Tomography

A method based on a combination of X-ray radiation and data processing technology, while implementing fast voltage transfer. This method provides a lot of information regarding different tissues pathologies. Advances in technology and CT scanners allow rapid imaging tests, which provide large scale anatomical-pathological information.

MRI

An imaging method based on radio waves and magnetic fields, that does not implement any ionizing radiation. The radio waves excite hydrogen atoms within the patient’s body, which is placed in a strong magnetic field. The waves emitted from the patient’s body as a result are detected by the MRI machine and translated as electric signals, which are then processed to generate a digital image that is projected onto a screen and sent to interpretation.

ULTRASOUND

Non-invasive medical imaging that allows detection of body soft tissue using ultrasonic waves. This analysis is fast and efficient, and allows preliminary scanning of body organs, blood vessels, lymph nodes, muscles, kidney arteries, etc.
This is a painless procedure
that does not implement ionizing radiation.
